As I’ve mentioned, the pom pom crab is my favorite critter in the tank. He came out for a rare appearance a little while ago, staying visible long enough for me to grab the camera and take a couple of shots. Not long enough to shut the pumps so I could get clearer shots, though, sorry.
Normally he stays hidden, coming out once or twice a month to grab food. It’s rare for him to venture this far from his home, hidden in the live rock.
very cool! the first picture is a very clear shot,he is pretty, what is his size, relative to….?

Thanks, I love this guy. He’s about two years old now, about the size of a quarter, which is fairly large for this species. 🙂

Got yourself a fine crab there Mrs. Fringe. All the ones I’ve seen here are dull colored. Strange, since everything else comes in neon…but, maybe it’s the neon-colored creatures that eat all the non-camouflaged crabs.

Often the ones like this guy are there, but hidden in the rock, or you can’t make them out agains the coral. Hmmm, I’ll have to look up what corals and critters are native to your area. 🙂

So colorful. Bird food on the beach. I want to go reef diving, husband used to do it for a “job” so he’s a whatever guy when it comes to that. Guess I’m on my own if I want to see creatures like this in the wild.
On my Way…
